Sr. Sound Designer

Carbine Studios, a software development company focused on making high-quality, cutting-edge, and conceptually innovative Massively Multiplayer Games, is seeking a talented Senior Sound Designer to produce creature, environment, prop and UI Sounds for an upcoming PC MMO, WildStar in their Orange County, CA studio.

The ideal candidate is highly creative, technically adept and passionate about designing sound. This individual will produce signature audio assets for the game while collaborating extensively with directors, artists and designers.

Responsibilities

  • Create organic, life-like, and emotional creature sounds
  • Create immersive audio environments
  • Design sound for in-game cinematic scenes
  • Create sounds for props and vehicles
  • Create sci-fi voice processes and edit dialog
  • Record and edit Foley sound.
  • Design sound for the game User Interface
  • Integrate designed audio into game using a variety of specialized tools
  • Maintain good working relationships with artists and engineers and participate in the iteration of designs based on their feedback

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years professional experience working in sound design for video games or motion picture
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in audio recording, field recording, processing, and mixing
  • Experience working with commercial digital audio workstations especially protocol
  • Experience mixing dynamic environments
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Ability to manage a large volume of audio data accurately and efficiently, and to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Ability to learn proprietary game development applications

Pluses

  • Experience with the Wwise game audio engine
  • Experience in sampling, synthesis and plugin patch creation
  • Experience with procedural synthesis (cSound, PD, Max)
  • Experience with vocal processing
