We are currently hiring for the following positions:

Graphics Programmer


Carbine Studios, a software development company focused on making high-quality, cutting-edge, and conceptually innovative Massively Multiplayer Games, is seeking a talented Graphics Programmer to work on upcoming PC MMO at their Orange County, CA studio. 

This individual will be primarily responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining the character animation system. The position requires extensive knowledge of matrix math, hierarchical character animation, and finite state machines. This individual will work closely with animators and will also be responsible for general game system code, as needed during development.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years programming experience using C++, preferably using MS VC++
  • 2+ years experience with DirectX-enabled PC games
  • Strong math skills, especially matrix math and techniques for solving systems of linear equations.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: animation state machines, low level animation systems, or physics-based IK systems
  • Desire/ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with teammates
  • Minimum 2 shipped titles or equivalent experience
  • Previous MMO development experience or avid MMO gaming experience desirable

Sr. Scripter


Carbine Studios is looking for a Sr. Scripter who can create high-quality quest and encounter content for an upcoming MMORPG.  This position will be responsible for monitoring scripts produced by other Scripters and ensuring those scripts comply with established rules and processes.  The Sr. Scripter collaborates directly with the Lead Quest Designer to make sure to represent the overall design vision of the game through quest content.

The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of both the capabilities and the limitations of the game engine, and be able to provide scripting support to multiple quest teams with those capabilities and limitations in mind.  They will also be experienced in one or more scripting languages and will possess the demonstrated ability to leverage his scripting experience to build compelling and stable content that is consistent with the game systems, the game lore and the game story

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience working in a scripting role
  • Must have shipped at least one AAA quality product working in a design capacity
  • Deep knowledge of scripting languages (Java, Python, LUA, etc): programming experience a plus
  • Strong background in game development, scripting and content design (preferably on an MMORPG), and hands-on knowledge of the MMORPG genre
  • A strong background in game development and content design (preferably on an MMORPG), and hands-on knowledge of the MMORPG genre
  • Broad knowledge of various genres and games and an ability to critically analyze them from a design perspective
  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills

Quest Designer


Carbine Studios is looking for a Quest Designer who can create high-quality quest content for an upcoming MMORPG. The Quest Designer collaborates with the Sr. Designers and Lead to ensure that the overall design vision of the game is represented through quest content. This position will create content that is consistent with the game systems, lore, and story. Successful candidates will possess a clear understanding of both the capabilities and the limitations of the game engine, and be able to create compelling quest with those in mind.

Requirements

  • 2 years professional experience working in a quest design role
  • Must have shipped at least one AAA quality product working in a design capacity
  • MMO Development experience highly desired, MMO knowledge essential
  • Strong passion for games and an excellent knowledge of video games, particularly RPGs
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills 
  • Ability to learn and use proprietary editor and tools to make quests in game
